Fixes for Cross-tabs and upgrading from older engines.

Also, problems with verifying files have been corrected so you should be able to verify files and go right back into the request manager without restarting Foxfire.

Build 325: Structure changes for Request File and Better Report Handling

Only download the entire install for Build 325.

If you only download the refresh, you may receive some errors when you first start Foxfire! Run Reverify Foxfire! files under the System Administrator and then restart Foxfire! to see the changes.

Verify Foxfire! Files is a new option in the System Administrator that effectively ensures all of your file structures are up to the latest format.

Minor Changes
Added "Send To" to the Printer toolbar. This makes the choices clearer.
Options for Sending email in the Workbench dialog are fully active and support an SMTP Server as well as other options that may be required. Email options now allow you to choose how the sender name appears as well as the ability to specify the subject and comments.

Fixed problem when sending reports to a file. From now on, when the user says File for a regular report, Foxfire! will print straight to PDF.
Revised output screen to show file options better. When you select File, the file name automatically populates and the printer drop-down disappears.
Fixed problem when sending reports to the printer directly.
Updated support for selecting printer. You can now select a new printer directly from the drop-down or by clicking Setup.
Fixed problem where new printer settings were not being respected.

Build 324 - Now Available

A bunch of different types of changes from 322 including better handling on sorting and grouped filters. There will be more coming this week but I just realized there's been 2 weeks since the last update. What's coming? Support for some of the new stuff in Mind's Eye.

Known Issues
Distinct Counts still don't sub-total properly. This will be updated later this week.
If you are still having problems with filters not working properly, download the full install and install it from scratch. There were changes made in the meta data in an earlier build.

Details of Updates

Updates to FFCONFIG Builder.
Removed Allow Full edit from Filter screen. This functionality has been removed from the end-user runtime filters so that you must be a designer to access it. As a designer, therefore, you can simply modify the filter to use this feature.
Rebuilt FFADMIN to support full Administrative Options. This will eventually reduce the size of FOXFIRE.APP to a very small file since all of the real meta data stuff will be in FFADMIN.EXE
Updating of menu options on Request Manager for new admin settings.
Fix for invalid translation of dates.
Fix to support newer versions of Excel. Foxfire! used to do an actual registry check. Now we simply attempt to create the COM object and move from there.
Fix for cross-tabs no longer working.
Older versions of Foxfire! called Cross-tabs X-Tabs which will now be automatically switched to say Cross-Tab.
Fixes in FFREQSRT and group footer displaying of options.
Fixed resizing for dialogs when only the ask for header at runtime is turned on.
Fix for problem when changing output options on a brand new request.
Automatically adding sorts for summary reports
Fixed problem with modify layout not working properly.
Changed PUTFILE in FFOUTGUI to display properly to end users.
Changed default justification for Distinct Counts to Right
Fix for adding group filters
Removed ability to create filters on distinct items (SQL Doesn't allow it)

Build 322: Easier Upgrades, Better Batch Building and Filters for Ask At Runtime

Build 322 makes upgrading from earlier releases much easier and improves the Batch Builder functionality. We've tested the upgrading with several older versions and it seems pretty smooth but if you have older sets (from Foxfire! 3.0 ), try them out and let me know what we're missing.

With the Batch Builder, you can now specify individual filter criteria for Ask At Runtime and create an immediate shortcut that can be easily added to the Windows Task Scheduler.

This new build also fixes problems with using the Full Ask At Runtime editing.

New folders are automatically supported as well, including items for Batches, Imported and Exported requests to make file management much easier.

Build 321: Minor Refresh to ConfigBuilder, Data and Preference Set

The FFCONFIG Builder has been updated to work a little better. We're still putting some finishing touches on it, like a Find and resizing standards but it generates a fully workable FFCONFIG file. It may be found under the System Admin tools.

The data item for Cars Color has changed slightly to compensate for the changes in the content. In previous builds, it has been case sensitive on its searches. If you download the full install , you will find it is no longer so.

The Remote screen from the Preference Set editor has been updated to include the DB Type so users can switch between different types of SQL generation when using Remote data sets.

Both the refresh and the full install have been updated to Build 321 as of 4/5/2004 8:30am EST.

Build 320: Revised Beta Expiration

The new build available now in both the refresh and full install now does not expire on 3/31. (guess we were a little too optimistic on that date)

If you have not installed a full version for over a month, please do so now.
